Your thoughts on the bridge collapse?

it is really quite unbelievable but it really happened. So i hope those are there and those who have loved ones there will recover from the trauma. My appreciation for all the people who showed their support in many ways.

Hope measures will be made to avoid similar incidents. Although sometimes unexpected things happen. May they find comfort and peace amidst this ordeal in God.

TOTALLY HORRIBLE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO PAY FOR THE NEGLIGENCE THAT CAUSED PEOPLE’S DEATH’S

Our Govenor Tim Palenty said that the bridge was slowly declining but the test indicated that nothing need to be done until 2020, however that apparently proved to be incorrect. But when the bridge was designed it was supposed to last several decades. But I will think that it’s important to point out back in 1967 when that bridge was eracated, it did not have to such heavy traffic flow, and it appears that the wear and tear just did a number on it.

My gut reaction is that this is an example of our crumbling infrastructure.

Our roads, power grid, prisons, schools, etc. are all being stretched to the breaking point. Our nation is literally falling apart. We need to invest much more money maintaining the things we all depend on.

I’ll have to wait for an engineering analysis of the failure before I can be sure of the circumstances of this collapse though. Was it avoidable? Was there something the inspectors missed? Was the 40 year old bridge well enough designed and maintained to last this long?
