How do you write "sun" in a paragraph?

would the “s” be a capital since its a planet? How do you write sun in a paragrapg? would the “s” be a capital since its a planet?

Answer #1

probably

Answer #2

I would capitalize it since it’s a noun and nouns are always capitalized :)

Answer #3

The sun is NOT a planet. It’s a star. It should be capitalized, since it is a “proper name” just like Janet or Bob.

Also - you do not capitalize all nouns. That is silly. That would be like capitalizing Couch or Television. Go back to school, you people! And listen to your teachers!

Answer #4

harsh but thxxx lol

Answer #5

haha sorry.

Answer #6

haha sorry. And I meant to type “proper NOUN” not proper name.

Answer #7

I did! I swear… Only when it came to nouns I was sort of sleepy x)

Answer #8

Actually, “sun” is not a “proper name” and should not be capitalized unless it is in the same sentence as planets with a proper name: Mars, Jupiter, Moon, Sun.

Answer #9

Actually, “sun” needs not necessarily be capitalized. Though, Sun is a proper name for the star people generally refer to(that big shiny thing our planet revolves around), “sun” is also a common term for ANY star with it’s own system of planets. Therefor, “sun” needs to be capitalized ONLY when Our sun’s specific properties are also mentioned, thus removing any doubt of another sun being referenced.

It’s complicated and I don’t think anyone will really care either way.
