Would Born Blode Maxi work for my hair?

I used a product to make my hair bright red and it had some bleach in it. In the places where my hair color is fading, it is a light brown/dark blonde. I would assume this is what my hair is going to look like after the red washes out. I’d like to have white hair after this and I found Born Blonde Maxi which lightens hair to a pale blonde. My question is would it work for my hair? Will my hair get fried because it’s already partially bleached? (I promise I will use conditioner before and afterwards, and use toner.) Thanks.

Hi sweetie.

I am not a professional, and won’t even pretend to be one; but I have bleached and dyed my hair so many times in my life that I think I can give a pretty good opinion. LOL.

If you currently have red hair, you will probably have to lighten TWICE. Born Blonde Maxi is a good product and its the only one I would recommend using if you are going to try going blonde yourself.

The first time you use it, you’ll probably be able to lift yourself up to a light carrot(ish) orange. I know it sounds scary; but you won’t be able to lift all of that red in one session.

Since bleaching is so horrible to the hair and scalp, you will have to wait at least 24 hours before the second bleaching session; which means you’ll have to be comfortable running around school, work, etc. with possible really orange hair!

When you do your second bleaching session, there is a pretty good chance you will not achieve the “white” blonde look (platinum). The only reason I say this is because for whatever reason, red is seriously damned hard to lift! However, I DO think you can achieve a light golden blonde.

And then of course, toner would help you achieve a bit more lightening as well.

Sally’s Beauty Supply has a product that actually strips the old color out of your hair, though I cannot remember the name of it. You may want to consider trying that before bleaching.

And then of course, yeah, it’s going to fry your hair. My advice would be–if you’re going to live life as a blonde, to try a much shorter haircut (to avoid all those dead, dry ends). But if you are intent on having long wavy locks, than be sure to spend money on good conditioner and accept that your hair WILL be dry. I like the John Frieda products –they work beautifully and are not so expensive.

I say go for it and be experimental! Just use caution, go slowly and in steps, and remember that if the color dosen’t come out the way you hope, you can always come back down to your original brown, or experiment with something else that dosen’t require bleach.

Good luck and let us know what you decide to do! :)

IT really all depends hon. I was a very stupid kid at around age 14. I got a perm, washed it that very night (didnt know because no one told me =/) then 4 days later, bleached my hair (it turned blond/orange), then dyed it back brown, and then red 2 days later. My hair never got fried believe it or not! However, my friend did the same thing (minus the bleaching part and the washing out the perm) and her hair got fried beyond belief. It just depends on how your hair is really. Some people have more of a tolerance to hair dyes and bleaches, while others (who don’t use it a lot mostly) Get the damage.

Funny thing is though that was my first time dying my hair, and my friend’s 2nd time dying, so I’m not quite sure. But, either way I’d say try it out if you’ve had pretty good luck in the past with hair dye. But if you are still in doubt, then listen to your gut. I look at it this way, I only live once , and in this one time I’m alive I want to try as much as I am willing to try, so if my hair turns out like crap, I just wait it out for a couple washes, and try again. My hair grows back fast though, so screwing up my hair isn’t really a worry for me. Sucks though because when I find a color I like, it grows back so fast I don’t get to enjoy it =(

sorry if that didn’t help, I sorta rambled in teh end, but yeah, do what you think is best! I’d say try it because worst case scenario, your hair will turn white (which isn’t a bad thing of course, I’d love platinum white hair it would look awesome :D) If your still worried, wait a couple of days or a week or so before trying it.

good luck!

It should work. You need two boxes if your hair is thick. Also get a no brass packet from a beauty store. It eliminates the ugly orange color.
