Would anyone dress their baby in goth clothes?

Would anyone dress their baby in goth clothes? I google image searched “goth” one time and as I was going through all the pictures and I saw these goth baby clothes. If I had a baby/little kid, I wouldn’t dress it goth, but what about you?

Whether you dress them in ‘normal’ ‘goth’ or any other style of clothing, you are making a decision for your kids based on what you perceive is ‘right’. Under the age of 2, kids just don’t care to make choices about their clothes so all parents make the choice for them. Around 3-4 years kids start wanting control of themselves, which shows up as wanting to make their own choices. It is then that I believe it’s appropriate to explore aesthetic values with your kids and allow them to choose their own clothing style.

Kids and babies and teenagers and adults all have one thing in common…they are human beings. It doesn’t matter at any stage of life what a person wears, accessorises with or puts across.

Example: I love the goth aesthetic and wear a lot of ‘goth’ clothes; but I also wear a lot of ‘hippy’ clothes and have a passion for permaculture gardening; then again I also have a corporate wardrobe which is fairly ‘normal’ and I work in senior management roles.

My 5 year old daughter loves wearing very normal girly clothes, and is happy wearing every colour imaginable…all at once, bless her; yet she also loves the one or two black/hot pink ‘faerie-goth’ dresses she owns.

My 7 year old son has very eclectic fashion sense: some days he’s very ‘goth’, other days it’s ‘normal’ stuff; other days it’s hippy stuff.

We are all the people we are being, none of us are our clothing or appearance.

How can these parents afford to dress their babies up in goth clothes? There isn’t a onesie in the world worth $15 in my mind, unless it’s made of diamonds. I just can’t see dressing a kid up in something like that when they will throw up on, poop on, or out grow it in three seconds flat.

Answer #3

and, you know, I see a lot of outfits that parents put on their kid that I might not buy for my own baby but I understand that their parents are just instilling their values on their own children. theres absolutely nothing wrong with dressing your baby up in goth clothes (or whatever type of clothes you want them in)…they’re your kids…that’s what makes people different. being so mean about what someone wears or even puts their babies in is just another one of those horrible judgmental issues that a lot of ignorant people do. if the parents are punk or goth and want their children to be like them, so be it. don’t criticize them for it.

Answer #4

hmm…I just bought a bunch of goth baby clothes just a second ago. honestly, they are really cute but I think they are considered goth because they are black with little designs like cherries and stuff on them. my baby’s hair is black and her skin is pale, and she happens to look best in red and black clothes. I dont think theres anything wrong with goth or punk clothes as long as it looks cute. plus, if you’re the parent, you can pass down your style to your children if you want. then when theyre older, they can decide for themselves.

Answer #5

NO WAY NO HOW.

Answer #6

yeah but dressing them in goth clothes is kinda making the decision for them. I would dress them in normal clothes and then when they become the age they can decide whether they are and really, what they are

Answer #7

Yeah, but little kids and babies aren’t goths, they’re just little kids and babies, they don’t even know what goth is. I’d just dress it in whatever it wanted ( within reason ),so if the kid did want to be goth, then fine.

Answer #8

Yukky, no way. Kids need the chance at least when they are babies to be colorful and look like babies/kids. They have enough time when they start growing up to make those kind of choices. I have five kids and they all had cute colorful clothes growing up. No complaints from them. Yes, I’ve asked them. Until this day none of them have ever dressed goth, if anything maybe me I love black and dark colors, plus it helps me look slimmer. ;)

Answer #10

I would Dress it in clothes from Hot Topic when I felt like it and normal clothes when I fell like it.

Answer #11

No, I’d dress them in normal clothes at first, if they want to wear goth clothes when they’re older, they can

Answer #12

No I don’t do that with my son. But I have seen at the store some little kids with goth cloths. They were looking so funny.

Answer #13

If I had a baby it would be wearing clothes from Hot Topic until it was old enough to decide for it’s self. I don’t know if you consider Hot Topic goth clothes or not…but some people do.

Answer #14

can you get baby clothes from hot topic?

Answer #15

I personally wouldn’t. When I do have kids, I’ll probably dress them in cute clothes in bright colors. :)
