think my dog has worms but not sure

hello I think my dog has worms but not sure I dont have the money to take him to the vet is there any way that you I can get something of the counter if he does?

Answer #1

If you use over the counter worm meds, you won’t be getting rid of the worms…just count on it…it’s a rip (and probably even hazardous to your pet)…

Take a stool sample in and get it checked at the Vets…then decide if you need to save up for some wormer (save up for a Vet appointment). Dogs with bad cases of worms can get anemic and even die…

most parasites you can only see under a microscope. If he is scooting on his butt he may need his anal glands expressed. I do not trust over the counter dewormers. If I were you and your dog has been seen by the vet in the last year and up to date on vaccines, then call them up and take a stool in to have it ran. They can tell you if he has worms or not and give you the right dewomer like pancur. This should not cost that much money at all. You are just paying for a fecal float and meds. Now if your dog has not been seen by a vet in a long time then they cannot just do that without a current exam.
