Windows Movie Maker won't save my movie

So, I created a movie for my family using Windows Movie Maker. I have Windows XP and plenty of space to save the movie, but it won’t save as a movie file. I’ve tried every option and nothing works. It goes to the pop-up screen with the estimated time remaining, but the time doesn’t show up, and soon after that it says, “Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the saving location is still available, and that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again.” I have done all these things, and the same message keeps appearing! I don’t know what to do, because I bought the DVD-R’s to burn the movie to so that I can give copies to my family, and it won’t even let me save to my desktop. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? THANK YOU!!

I still have all of the files I used on my desktop and in a folder. I haven’t deleted any of them or moved any of them

what you need to do is when you click “save as” you need to go to the bottom where you type the name and click under it and it shows how you are saving it. you need to change the file type so it does save it as a DVD file or a video file. I had a similar problem. when creating it, it shows the timeline at the bottom. you need to click the button just above it that says zoom timeline out or something like that until the end thing says it is as long as or longer than your movie. that was my problem when I was making mine. I didn’t have the timeline long enough for what I was making. hope this helps.

My computer is telling me the same exact thing. I have spent a lot of time making two separate videos and cannot save either one to my computer, a cd or a dvd.

if you find out, please help me because I’m in the same boat.

since youve made a,lets call it, compilation you have to make sure the original files (I.e. the video you edited) is still in place (where it was when you added it on Movie maker) if it was from a DVD and you saved the movie AFTER taking out the DVD from the PC then MM (movie maker) wont be able to fetch the original file and thus giving you that error, but ill need more information to solve your problem fully…sorry for the messed up writing but I try to give as much info without using too many words

I found a solution at . . . http://support.microsoft.com/kb/814836

I ended up cutting clips from my project and publishing the movie in 3 parts which led me to find the clips that were corupt. Instead of remaking the enitre movie I only had to remake one section of it which was pretty easy. in the end I had 3 published movies that I mushed into one and published again as 1 whole movie.
