What is a compatible DVD decoder for Windows Media Player (read more)?
What does Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.” mean?
Do I need to go out and buy something and download/install it to the laptop in order for it to play on Windows Media? It’s not a bootleg copy if that’s what you’re thinking, any help would be great.
That your computer is unable to play movies. You need to install the right software.
What is the right software? Can I find it online? Does it cost anything? Or do I have to go out and search for it in stores?
This sounds like the problem is not with WMP, but rather with your computer’s ability to read the DVD - perhaps an old DVD drive incompatible with a newer disk format? Or it might be a problem with the disk. Does your drive read other DVDs successfully? Can another computer read the failed movie DVD successfully?
