Why won't my parents let me grow up?

I’m 23 years of age, and my parents are still strict. Everytime I want to spend the night at my boyfriends they always have something to say about it. My dad’s answer to everything is NO… I love my parents and everything but they always sees me as a little girl… No matter how many times that I tell them and explain to them how I feel about me and my boyfriend planning to stay together it’s like talking to a brick wall… They don’t hear anything they think that they know everything… What should I do?

Answer #1

I agree with everyone else, but no matter where you are, people cannot hold you there. Yes, it is their rules, but you are over 18, and you can control yourself. If you have a job then save up the money for an apartment. If you do not have a job, then you should get one. I hope this helped!

Answer #2

I agree with ichi, their house, their rules. You are 23, if you’re not happy try and make some plans to move out.

Answer #3

Yeah, if your 23 you should already be moved out. and also if you do live under their roof, it is their rules, however since your already an adult you shouldnt have to ask then for permission to do any thing. I think you oughta move out.

Answer #4

Do you live in their house?

I’m sorry to say it, but as long as you’re living under their roof - they’re in charge.

You’re 23…it’s time you went out in the world and learned how to be a real adult.
