Why they didnt make thanskigiving day on friday?

Why they didnt make thansgiving day on friday so people can have 3 days off in arow instead of thursday because then people have to work again on friday and I think that is not good what do you think.

The reasons for Thursday are historical.

Most people I know typicaly get Thursday and Friday off making a 4 day weekend.

I believe Lincoln made it a holiday for the last Thursday in November and it was changed by Congress in 1941 to the 4th Thursday in November and made into a national holiday.

The reason it is on Thursday is because Thanksgiving is a continuation of the Harvest celebration which was always on Thursday because it was a religious holiday celebrated in church on Thursday which was when most people had their mid-week church service.
