Why isn't my cat drinking?

Im not sure what to do about my cat, He is 11months old, he is eating and playing and doing all the usual cat things, but he wont drink anything, ive put out water, and milk and cat milk but he just wont drink anything, he is still weeing the same tho, he doesn’t drink from outside because he doesn’t go out. How can i get him to drink?

Hi jody, You should get your cat to a vet ASAP. Any animal who doesn’t drink obviously needs medical attention. Please make sure he gets checked out…it could be a number of things,

If cats do not drink sufficient amounts of water, it can exacerbate constipation problems or kidney disease, and contribute to dehydration.

I had a cat once that ONLY wanted to drink water out of the faucet as it was running/dripping. I think it’s an old instinct they have. I would go to work in the morning and leave a tiny drip going on the faucet. The cat would stick it’s paws in the drops and lick it off it’s paws. Try that. If it works, then go to petsmart and buy a kitty water bowl that has a constant drip going into the dish. They sell those for this very problem. My neighbor has one. Good luck!
