Why is Thanksgiving celebrated different days?

In Canada, Thanksgiving is always the second Monday of October.

I find that odd because the United States and Canada celebrate almost all holidays the same except Thanks Giving like; Christmas, Halloween, Valentines day, etc.

So why is it a different day when it comes to Thanksgiving?

Answer #1

Thanksgiving is an American holiday the other three have to do with religion

Christmas: the birth of Christ Halloween: aka All hallows Eve (night before All Saints Day) is to commemorate the passing of the dead and celebrated by wearing costumes. The candy was just a modern ad-on Valentines Day: celebrated in honor of St. Valentine

That’s why holidays like Christmas, Halloween, and Valentines Day are celebrated by a lot of countries, they are all religious holidays.
