Why is my girlfriend so angry with me?

So I live with my girlfriend in her house and I pay her a monthly rent which easily covers all household bills (including mortgage) and food. We went on holiday together for almost a month over Dec and she rented her house out for the time we were away. She got a lot for it as well, over double what I pay a month. I didnt pay any rent in Dec and I paid her January’s rent mid Jan time. She assumed it was for Dec as I hadn’t paid any for that month, she has flipped out when I said I didn’t think I would have to pay for Dec.

I’m confused as to why she thinks I should pay rent to her. I said that if the house hadn’t been rented out then I would have been more than happy to pay the rent, however as someone came in and paid double what I normally do, why is she asking me for money and getting massively angry when I have objected to it?

you probaly should hve ask but if it makes ypu feel better I wouldn’t pay rent either you should spilt the rent unless she is unemployed your not a tented your her boyfriend.

Umm well, I think she is thinking that you still need to because you live there and should be paying as if it was your place as well but I still dont see why you should because you were not staying there over that month. Maybe you could try asking her why she feels you should and to not get angry about it but try not to bring up the fact that you are not paying for it just ask her why and explain that you were not staying there and that you do not understand why she does not think of it as fair. sorry if thats no help but I hope its a little bit of help :)x

She can’t claim double rent on one property - what she’s asking of you is illegal…make her understand that.
