Why is it wrong to masterbate?

I have a question… Is it wrong to masterbate or not… if its is not wrong then why do you feel so guilty after doing it and why do so many people ask whether its wrong or right… this is really troubleling me…

Answer #1

Wait… don’t listen to bornagain. While masturbation can be addicting for some, it is not addicting for all.

Masturbation is a natural practice that actually helps you become more comfortable with your body. And doctors have found that it helps when you do have sex with someone else. So, really, bornagain’s answer is biased from his religious viewpoint.

I am religious, but I am answering this on fact. :) Oh, and thank you adviceamy, for also pointing out bornagain’s unusual statistics ;)

Wait… please don’t listen to bornagain. What a stupid answer. Masturbation can be addicting for some, but not all. And masturbation is a natural practice. Why can’t we seek pleasure for our bodies? Is it ok to overwork our bodies and never take care of them?

Answer #2

I would be really interested to see some of the scientific data that bornagain is citing, as I had not heard any of those statistics before. However, the statistics that I have heard cite masturbation as being healthy and normal and the guilt you are feeling might stem from social pressures or you might just not be comfortable with it. It’s important to decide for yourself what you want to do and it is something that you should decide based on what you are going to be able to live with and not God’s supposed scientific studies.

Thanks guys for all the advice really got me thinking…

Answer #4

it isn’t wrong AT ALL. you shouldn’t feel bad as it is a normal thing to do. if you do it you do it, if you dont, you dont, simple as that. no worries :)

Answer #5

Religion in America is the only thing that teaches us that masturbation is wrong. Do not be sucked in by society into believing that garbage. As long as you are not addicted to it and you are maintaining hygiene; you will be fine. I just would not advertise your ‘practices’.

Answer #6

It is not wrong to masturbate. It’s the best way to learn your body and what makes you feel good. People are raised to believe it is sinful or bad to masturbate, hence the guilt feelings. Continue to enjoy masturbation. The guilt feelings will eventually stop.

Answer #7

personally, I don’t think its wrong as long as you don’t get addicted to it or something. I think its okay to know what makes you hot or not. Anyway, I guess people don’t really openly admit it (esp girls) because it might still be taboo to some. but whatever, its a private thing anyways.

Answer #8

whether one cares to admit it or not, majority of people who do it get addicted. unbiased scientific evidence prooves that it contributes to premature ejaculation in men and it negatively affects sex with your partner. the guilt stems from God speaking to the concience. listen..the guilt that you experience is not worth it, I am a peronal testimony to that. if you want advice on how to break free let me know.

Answer #9

Religion in America? How ethnocentrist can you get? That statement is pretty damned offensive, especially considering honeybrittle is not American.

Masturbation is specifically banned in Christian and Islamic texts, and though it is usually not practiced by those adhering to strict Buddhist practices (though it is never specifically mentioned as a ‘sin,’ seeking carnal pleasure is an attachment and thus leads to suffering). How many billions of people around the globe does that include?

There are thousands of years of cultural and religious stigma against the practice, so to suggest that it’s ‘only’ present in a country with a paltry 200-year history is shortsighted.

EDIT: I forgot Hinduism. That’s another billion right there.
