Why is it the only hardcover in the series?

I’ve been reading the House of Night series. The first four books are all paperback books. But the newest book (came out Tuesday) is only in hardcover.

Why would they start making them in hardcover now? Why not keep with the paperback thing? I would rather own the whole series in one style, not both. Kind of an OCD type thing. Plus, paperback cost less.

But yeah. I heard they did that with Twilight too (from what my cousin says, I don’t read Twilight). All of a sudden it was only in hardcover.

Why do they do that?

it’ll be in paperback eventually I hope. but I absolutely love the house of night series

Answer #2

When a series gets popular like with House of Night and Twilight the publishers scheme to get more money out of the readers because they know we’ll buy the book and they probably make more money out of hardbacks because of the price difference which is really frustrating for us becuase we have to wait a year or at least until the next book comes out to get the damn thing in paperback.
