Why in the world didn't my hair turn bright orange?

Hah, well, I have more than one question, first, why didn’t my hair turn bright orange when I stripped it? It went from jet black to a very nice… mahogany. It didn’t even get dried out like I expected it to. Why?(in case your wondering, yeah,im thankful)

Oh, and second, I liked my black scene hair, but I want to go blonde(better w/my skin tone). So, after I stripped it,(I did it again to make it go to my natural light brown color) It stayed the same!! Should I try it again next week? Is my only option to bleach the dark pigments away? How can I get my hair blonde?

Ohh.. and even though I am thankful, I’d rather go back to black then keep it rich brown. So yeah that’s not the options I’m looking for. THanks for reading though!! and I really apreciate answers, even if they’re repeats, its good to find a majority vote!! (X

To lollylily101 and breezy07: Well the first time I did it it worked fine, I left it in for the required 20 min. and the second week(w/a new box) it didnt. It was “backtrack” by paul mitchell, and since my mom is a hairstylist, I just had her do it for me. she bought it from ariel because she has a liscense, so she said that it couldnt have been from it being to old.

To denaxx and sarai: Actually, I havn’t done any bleaching yet, only stripping. My mom used to be a hairstylist so she can buy professional products(she still has her liscense) so, I when I do go blonde, I will not use a color(that wouldnt work) I’d use those little packets called… kalaidocolors(bleach).

To in omnia paratus: When you say keep going, do you mean keep going with the stripping? but what if it doesnt work again?(like the second time) And by treatment, do you mean deep conditioner? Thanx 4 the tip about the straightening protection spray, I didnt even know somthing like that existed!! also, the black was dyed that way for 1/2 yr. so light brown is my natural.

Thank you everyone for the answers!!! But theres still some things I dont get! If the stripping thing wont work AGAIN, is my ONLY choice to bleach the dark brown away?(besides letting it grow out, I already know that option)???

Well I cut and color hair at a friends shop and this happens when the hair is very dark or a kit has gone bad …I don’t think you should keep coloring in the same day though!

Answer #3

well you wouldnt want to keep doing that the bleaching thing because you will damage your hair. it was probably the fact that your hair was tooo dark. go to a salon and have them do it. besides brown is pretty for scene hair. am I correct?

That happened to my sister. She stripped her hair and it turned orange. If you dont do it right like havin it on for too long or too short. It could be anything. Or it could just be that you had really dark hair and you didnt get all of the color out.

Answer #5

You can keep going until you get the blonde you want, But be careful as it is hard to get that white blonde that most people want. You need need need need to have a good treatment for your hair, even if its not showing signs of weakness or dryness. And if you will straighten it a lot you MUST use straightening heat protection spray.

Was the black your natural colour? Or had you dyed it black? If it was natural, it will be easier to get it to blonde. If it was dyed it will be harsher on the hair.

did you color it blond ? or use a bleach kit?
