Why doesn't bestfriend doesn't get on with my girlfriend?

My best friend doesn’t really get on with my girlfriend. They work together at my local pub. She only does a few shifts a week whereas he is full time there. They never really got on when me and my girlfriend got together. I have always maintained that they should at least tolerate each other. However, now it’s got to the stage where I’m being pushed into a corner to take sides. They are both very strong, hard headed people which is why I think they don’t get on. I’ve said to them both to at least “put up” with each other but it doesn’t ever last. I need help!!! I love her so very much, and he is one of my best friends! I’ve known him for at least 10 years. I don’t want to take sides.

just dont take sides and make it clear to them why your not. tbh they both sound like they are acting like total twats really… they shouldnt be bringing you into their problems…
