why does my white molly turn grey every other day?

I recently bought a pair of white mollies and another pair of balloon mollies. Its been a month now and I find my white mollies turn grey for a period of 2 days and they get back to their normal colour! Intially I thought my mollies fell sick and they were going to die… (because the behavior they exhibit is of a sick fish where they stay stationary in one position or they stand tall looking up for quite sometime… which is not normal. Also, depite all that, they eat like any other fish..) but now I realised that this keeps happening. anyone who can tell me if its normal for a molly to turn grey this way and act zombie ish! ? what could be the possible reasons behind it? All my other fishes are fine and show no discoloration…!

there isnt much you can do! Take it out of the tank for a few days to see if the mollies stop going grey. If they do stop then you know what it is and then youll have to either make them put up with it or get another tank or even a fish bowl. We have a siamese fighting fish that killed a few of our other fish so we put it into a bowl by itself, it seems pretty happy, but I dont know how your mollie might feel! Maybe if you do take it out permanently, try and find a partner for it thats the same size?

my tank consists of 4 balloon mollies and 3 white mollies… the biggest molly in the tank bullies all the fishes… so you think that could be the reason..? hmmm… how does one deal with fishes that bully others… because you cant separate a single fish for 2 long right! eventually il want to put that molly back with the others.. and thats not going to alter his antics :-s… wish behavior therapy worked with fishes! :-p

what other fish are in the tank? they might be getting spooked or “bullied” by other fish.
