Why does my dog like to eat plastic?

I have a shih-tzu that likes nothing better than to chew the hands and feet off my son’s action figures. It’s like crack for him. Why does he like to do that?

As above, definately try to stop him or he’ll end up with a blocked or punctured stomach or intestines and you’ll have a big vet bill. Get him some chewy bones and give him plenty of exercise and let him have his own toys to chew on.

Good Luck

Hi,

Is your dog young or teething? If so, this could be a reason. Like human babies, dog’s teeth have to grow in and gnawing will help their sore gums.

If it’s an older dog, it could be boredom. Many times when dogs do destructive behavior, they simply aren’t getting the exercise or attention they require. Getting something for it to chew on like a rawhide or rubber toy may help. (However, don’t give any real bones–they tend to splinter and can puncture a dog’s intestines or stomach).

Good luck.
