Why does everyone’s tattoo have to symbolise something these days ,

Look I have nothing against tattoo’ s symbolising something I totally get it ,

but what I have a problem with is when someone gets something because it looks cool and then makes up something for it to symbolise , why cant people just say I got it because I wanted to ,because it looked cool , whats so wrong with just wanting a tattoo because you like tattoos ,

I have a 4 tattos and the only one I got to repersent something was my daughters name , the others I got because I like tattoos , I just wish more people could admit that ,

I blame miami ink .

fair enough , I guess now I have to go and come up with a reason why I have half my arm covered with zombies and the other with nosferatu

Answer #2

lol trafficoneman I do understand, but at the same time your obviously someone who hangs out with a lot of people who has tattoos and your tat yourself too.

People like me who are tattoo less, find people with tats fascinating so even if they are spinning a yarn (bulldusting) about the reasons and the “symbolism” of their tattoos , it’s still very intriguing ;)

Answer #3

lol if your going to sit through the pain in getting yourself tattooed, I would think you want the tat to symbolise something or someone, and let’s face it, its a lot more interesting as a listener to listen to why and the reason they decided to have that particular tattoo then to have a response “because I like it” :)

As I said I’ve nothing against getting tattoos to symbolise something I get it ,

its the type pf person who gets a flaming skull (because he likes it) and when he is asked why he got it done instead of saying I think it looks cool he says something like

“Well the skull symbolises the end of one part of my life , and the fire symbolises the rebirth that I am now in and how I have a fire in me that will never go out even after im gone”

do ya know what I mean , its just BS

Answer #6

I agree with you here. I have a guy I know who got a black belt tattoo when he reached black belt because it symboyles that he made it.I totally get that. And then I have this guy who has a tattoo of a skull, and he said he got it because he likes the one in his head. I’m like what??? And the tattoo was not a regular skull, it had like wings and black smoke coming out of it. I know some people just can’t admit to getting a tattoo because they wanted one.

I haven’t seen Miami Ink and I think that what you’re saying is fine, and I don’t think it has to.

But everyone is different. I have three tattoo’s and they’re chosen specially because I’m the type of person that feels like if I’m going to have something on my skin forever I want to be special for a reason.

However I am about to get one under my arm and down to my thigh along my ribs and I’m getting that because I think it looks nice and I like it. And my partner has three tattoo’s and two of them are just because
