why does a washcloth soaked in warm water make you cold?

I just want to know the science behind that. for example, if you put a warm washcloth on your forehead, it’s warm for a little bit, but it’s like as soon as the air hits your wet skin, it gets cold.

Answer #1

Thank you!

Answer #2

The washcloth isn’t making you cold. The evaporation of the water on your skin that it leaves behind is what makes you cooler. Just like when you sweat its evaporation leaves you cooler.
