Why do guys do this to us?

I guess, a part of it is that society has created a system where men are judged in part by how beautiful of a woman they have, and similarly women are judge by how wealthy or powerful of a man they have. It is a sad system that is really quite counterproductive.

As far as mistreating goes, I think this is a problem that perhaps is common to both genders, at least from my experiences with exes. I think it stems from our ability as humans to be completely blind to the wonderful things we have until they are gone.

As for some men claiming that women don’t have to do as much to get a man, I think this stems somewhat from the fact that a good number of men would happily sleep with a woman regardless of her hygene or efforts to present themselves.

But it does have a deeper cause. If you think about it, and when it comes to animals in general, it all comes down to sex and passing on genes. Now, in that respect, women have to invest a lot more in getting having children then men do. I mean this physically and other ways, and this carries on to nearly every species that sexually reproduces. Because of this, women have more reason to be choosey with who they mate with, and it sets up a dynamic where men have to compete with each other for women. This is called secual selection and it has led to some amazing looking species out there. Just look up sexual selection on youtube for some awesome birds. But now I’m rambling.
