Why do drugs?

Lack of self control, uncontentment, escapism or to avoid feeling feelings, unable to cope with life on life’s terms, trying to fit in or please others, therapy, ceremonial purposes. Using for fun is a lie that people tell themselves, there is always an underlying issue. The first recorded writings on the use of marijuana come from Plato who described a tribe of people who would pile hot stones into a tepee adding marijuana to the pile of stones to smolder and burn, they would do this at the wake of a dead warrior in order to get into the right frame of mind to honor him (Greek Vapor Bath). The next phase in it’s use was for purposes of brainwashing people to do others biddings, many opiates were used to train assassins to be ready to give there lives for promises of heavenly delights that waited them like 70 virgins and such (Arabian nights). And finally to the early Jazz scene in America when it was used to loosen inhibitions so people could “Have fun”. So like I said earlier if someone is using the excuse that it’s just fun then they’re just admitting they have some sort of social disorder which prohibits them from having fun sober.

I have met many people in my life who do drugs, ranging from 13 to 50 years old. Not all of them are the same although they may use the same type of drug. I myself am an Addict and it’s not something anyone should want to be. You make either two choices; you quit and work hard to stay clean. Or you use and forget you even tried to. I was once like the people posting saying all drug users are losers and I had no respect to them. But now I understand don’t judge what you don’t know. It makes some people feel better about themselves to point down on others because they believe they are more of a descent human being. But anyways I am addicted to XTC and Alcohol. Been out of Rehab for 6 months and off my drugs of choice. I now smoke Marijuana for medical purposes, not prescribed but I know the benefits of it and I do not abuse it. Marijuana, like previously said is not Physically addictive it is more of a mental addiction. It is a drug, and still has negative effects of course.

I’m on a variety of medications but since I lost my insurance I have turned into the person I use to be when using XTC and drinking daily. In order for me to remain sane I smoke weed every other day or when im having anxiety or urges to go find the dope man. Without my medicine or weed I get really violent, depressed, and all the good qualities I carry are missing. Not the outstanding neighbor type by any means but I try to be a good person.

Just tired of those thinking all people are low-life’s who smoke weed. Some people just have issues and are confused about there life, and may have taken the wrong road. It’s not your life to make comments on, so think before you open your mouth. your comments just add fuel to the fire.

Someday, maybe not in my lifetime marijuana will be legalized and your children or children’s children will be smoking Marijuana.

It is classified as an class A 1 controlled substance, which is something that is physically and mentally addictive. This is true of both marijuana and cocaine. Although since it’s classification marijuana has been proven to not be physically addictive so it should be reclassified to the level of alcohol. They had made it illegal originally because they didn’t understand it and thought that it made you crazy and like Brownangel said it was an antisocial drug that made you do things like rape people. They did not make either illegal because of race. Cocaine used to be an additive in Coca Cola until they took it out because of the physically addictive side effects, yet caffeine is physically addictive as well go figure. But cocaine unlike caffeine loosens inhibitions leading to crime and other negative social aspects. You may use any excuse you want to smoke weed or any other controlled substance, like to relax. But the bottom line is that that excuse is a lie and a justification. If you think about it, any healthy person can relax without having to smoke weed. Like I said in my earlier post people can make any excuse they want but there is always an underlying social or mental disorder that causes them to abuse a drug. And if you actually study the history of drugs you will see that they were not made illegal because of race, even if you google it perhaps they used the stamp farce in order to round up illegal immigrants but it is not why they had made it illegal. I think that most of these posts have made me dumber for just having read them.

To tell you the truth smart people actauuly do drugs or get in trouble with drugs more then un smart people they have so much mental stress drugs help then relex and chill out from that stress and they beging to like it and keep doing it WEED IS NOT BAD !!! telling you this now. if it is laced yeah I could be bad but in general NO. it dose nothing to you it will only do something if you let it.

MARIJUANA IS LESS POTENT THAN ALCOHOL and thats not a biased opinion because I’ve never done it look it up! drugs make you experience nirvana its human nature to want to feel like you are the only one experiencing this newfound ‘place’

to relax, I know several very smart people that smoke weed on a regular basis you would be suprised they can be your doctor or mechanic everyone does drugs for a different reason. If you are wondering about a certain person, just come out an ask them in a matter of fact way, you never know they just might answer your question for her.

dont knock antil uv tried it . I have tried lots of diffrent tipes of drugs and I can honestly say some are quite good others are crap and just leave you either feeling like you want more (coke) or tired (valium). however I’ve had some off my best nights out ever on drugs .u just have to know your limits (thats hardest part). people do drugs because it has become part of young culture and quite acceptable in some social groups ,

What kind of drugs do ya mean? If youre talking coke its a addiction. Weed is to relax . Pills are for when you want to be zoned out cause youre having a fuc-ed up day. Im not conding it just anserwing youre ? Just so ya know the finest people dont do drugs. The people who can handle life w/out drugs are a lot more admierble.

drugs are beneficial to the human mind spiritually and have been used for many years cannabis however I dont consider a drug has been on this earth since its existence and been used medicinally for thousands of years

people with an addiction (including hard drugs) shouldnt be thrown in jail, they need help theres more people in jail with mental illnesses than there are in mental institutions

People do drugs, because they don’t have any common sense. They think it is cool. Well it’s not! It is very harmful to your body. Think about it. People die everyday from a drug overdose. Not cool at all.

I have to say I agree with 90% of what brownangel007 has said

cause people are stupid and lame and they can’t have fun without having some chemical inducing it.

I personally use cannabis for the experience and the effect, not to “look cool”. It has no impact on my personal life because I have self control and I know I am handling a controlled substance. Not being a daily or heavy user, my tolerance has not increased and I am still using as much as I did on my first try. I can’t wait ‘til someone shouts “DENIAL!” :)

Many people use drugs for different reasons and self knowledge is always required.

PEOPLE IS STUPID

Okay People. We’ve all been through different experiences. Some of us have had relatively ‘good’ lives while others, not so much. I see it as its just a choice people make. Some just out of curiousity, others a way to cope from reality, peer pressure from kids, ect, you’ve heard all the reasons. But it’s definetly not because someone is dumb or stupid. There’s no difference between someone who does drugs, smokes cigarrettes, or drinks alcohol. Don’t try to tell me that even half of you have never picked up a cigarette or drank alcohol, nobodies perfect, so get over yourself.
