Why are there no REAL role models for teens out there?

I recently decided to do some serious assessment of the media and it makes me want to barf. Let’s see, the “role models” for girls are people like The Pussycat Dolls and Jessica Simpson and for guys, we’ve got all these rappers like Chamillionaire and 50 cent. I watch all those people on TV myself, but I do it knowing not to take it all seriously, life just isn’t like that. Even celebrities don’t live as luxuriously as we think. Girls see women in rap videos dancing all sexy and shit and think that all they’ll ever be is a toy for men. Guys see rappers threatening to kill people and going on about beating their hoes and shit and want to fit into that mould. Someday, I hope to be a real role model for males and females alike. I’d like to write an inspirational book, travel the world, become an activist and do some counselling or something, or start some sort of organization. I just don’t understand what happened to a good, wholesome image. It’s actually scary because someday when I grow up and have children, this sure as hell isn’t the kind of stuff I want them subject to. I just wanted to know what you guys think of all this. Thanx a lot, peace!

i know it’s so bad out there. it’s like the t.v is the gate way to hell. iam 30 now and i not overly up tight but i can believe what’s going on. i even live in a small town pop 20,000. i hate the way things are going. when a 13 year old girl knows more than i do about sex that’s BAD. i was still playing with my dolls at 14. ive have only been with 2 guys i am married to the 2nd. ive never flash my boobs or butt. you know in in 3rd world countrys we think how bad they have it. maybe not enought food but there kids aren’t looking at t.v all day. and they know what a real life is like. i grew poor and thought i missed out now i now i lived a great life. sure not enough food. but thats why i don’t over eat. i didn’t grow up on fast food and can’t eat it now it makes me sick. and where i live there is not one fast food place.thank god. i love the 1950’s that was real and real nice. but i know there are people out there that won’t let this age get to out of control. people are going get the t.vs out of there house’s. iam thinking about it. i hate t.v but i love it. thats a addiction even me wow.

I think the youth of today should be looking at our athletes for role models…NCAA stars…pro athletes….future Olympians and the Olympians of the past who show us what true dedication…focus… and determination truely are. These are important tools for the youth of today to succeed in their education and in life…. Plus…as they use these athletes as mentors in thier sports, they will be developing a health body and mind…..can’t say that about a rock stars of today.
