Why are my friends so eager to say "I love you"?

Ok well most of my friends have boyfriends and as some of you know, I have a bofriend myself. Well one of my friends said I love you to her boyfriend after less than a month going out and another one of my friends said I love you to her boyfriends 2 weeks after going out. Yes I have said I love you to a guy but I was stupid and presured into saying it. Well we are all about 13 or 14 and I reaaallyyy dont believe in love at our ages. We are young and stupid. Right now we love fake nails and facials, we shouldnt be saying I love you if we dont even know what it means. So why are they saying it? They cant possibly actually love these guys.. Can they? Oh boy, do I agree with this question or what? Sometimes when people start dating, they have the tendency to only ever think about relationships. I know that I have certain friends who have never even considered the option of being independent. And completely rely on being with someone else, because being single just doesn’t make them happy. But I realize that some people are just dependent on people. ‘I love you’ is a way to slightly explain how the feel. Because, hey, it’s not like I’d go up to my boyfriend and I say ‘I like you’ everytime I hang up the phone. I guess it just doesn’t work that way. Plus there’s a way to differentiate between actual ‘I love you’s. I say ily to my friends all the time, because I love them as a friend, am I in love with them? Nah. But its just a way of expressing how I feel about them, to a certain extent. The older you get, the more meaning love will hold. Maybe they just haven’t realized what power the words hold, so they toss it around like beanbags.

They might want to feel as it if required to say love you right away? But dont feel pressured to do or say anything you dont want to

Answer #3

Different people take the phrase with different amounts of seriousness. What they define love as may not be “love” for someone else. infatuation and love are easily confused.

I feel the same way I’m 15 and I notice that people around me do that all the time and honestly it annoys me becuse I don’t think they truly mean it. I’ve only said I love you to one and guy and we were together for a year but sometimes I regret saying that to him. but anyway I think people just say it just to hide something or just to get it out of the way but personally I don’t think it should be said unless you truly mean it.
