WHY am I shy to go up and talk to my classmates?

Alright ..I know where your coming from..I just started Highschool after being homeschooled all my life..I was lucky and had acouple people I knew but still…alright…first off…if someone sits beside u…make silly comments..like…”ugh! I hate this unit” or something..but say it with confidence…be friendly and open…picck out the nicer people in your class…not the popular or w/e mostly the nerds…or just the nice…down to earth people…make friends with one..or acouple of them…then goof off…just be open and friendly..then everything will go good for u…Good Luck! =-)

Well you answered your own question. You’re shy because you’re scared of rejection. But what does it mean to you if you are rejected (I.e. if someone rejects you, then what?). And why are you viewing it in terms of rejection? So what if that particular person does not want to talk to you. Maybe they are busy. Maybe they’re having a bad day. Maybe you remind them of someone and so they dont like you. It cannot be about you if they dont know you. So dont take it personally. The way you explain things is what matters in life. Stop explaining them as if you are deficient in some way and there is something wrong with you. Why on earth wouldnt someone want to talk to you? And if they dont, you’ve got 100s of other chances with different people in all your classes, and people not in your classes. Talk to people. The cashier at the pharmacy, the person who serves you food, the people who live in your building, the security guards. You dont have to become best buds, just say hello, or make a comment, even about the weather. People are so often willing to talk and connect with others. So if you just look up and be friendly, they will be friendly back. Usually most people I talk to are friendly back. Sometimes some people give me the ‘why are you talking to me loook’. It’s ok. I used to give people that look. I dont take it personally. Just say hi. Ask someone for the answer to a question you’re stuck with. Ask about their weekend. Ask someone if they want to grab lunch after class. Ask someone if they want to go to the convenience store to get something. If someone mentions something you’re interested in, ask if they want to go with you. Say you’ve been dying to see this new movie and you’re wondering if they want to go too. You cant be afraid of rejection. Sometimes people will want to do stuff, sometimes they wont. You keep trying. You’ll make friends.
