Why am I constantly coughing if im on medication for it?

Ok so here is the deal people.! So like I have been coughing since (monday) and today is (friday)! So I got my prescripted medication on (tuesday) & the doctor said to drink it twice a day two spoons of it! So I have everyday…but my coughing is getting worse and worse!!! =[ &. So I went in the kitchen and I was coughing like crazy to the point where I was about to freakin puke!!! :’’[ and my dad was like go outside and get some fresh air…but its too hot and that wont work for my bad coughing. So right now im sitting down and everytime I try to cough right now, I cant. (weird)…I also have been getting cold and night sweats which are getting better, due to the medication. But my coughing, mucusy, lungs have to go bye bye!!! Man what in the world do I do???!!! (I also tried hot tea w/ honey- not workin one bit-! Please somebody smart (as if in the medical field help)- if your not im fine with it to! :)

Coughing medication doesn’t make your condition any better, it only tries to stop you from coughing. It could be that your cough is too strong or your medicine is too weak. Instead of going after the cough itself the best solution is to get some rest until you get better. Avoid sugar when possible, drink enough water, drink some OJ for vitamin C, etc.
