Whose wrong??

I’ve been with my boyfriend for about 6 months ago and we hardly fight because both of our personality are usually laid back. We work together and dating is completely against the policy so its a secret to the whole job. Last night a bunch of us went out to a bar that was close to our job. We parked in our parking lot and walked over. As the night went on most of our co workers left besides myself, my boyfriend and a new girl. I was planning on leaving soon since I had work the next day. So saying goodbye to both the new girl and my boyfriend, my boyfriend didnt offer to walk me to my car (which was like a block away) and I must have given him a nasty look bc the new girl offered to walk me. When I got home, I sent him a text telling him I appeciated him walking me to my car . he said he didnt want to throw any signals up about our relationship. Friends walk friends to their car, especially at 1 in the morning, coming out of a bar alone and their car is a block away. He says he was just trying to protect our relationship while I see it as more as a safely issue and the message he said was it was okay for me to walk alone last night. I know there is 2 sides of every story and I want to understand his view , I do to a point but felt mine was better (lol) he says we both owe each other an apology but honestly, what am I sorry for?… so what do you think?
