Who's good with essays?

The idea of going to summer school may scare kids into doing well simply because they don’t want to lose out on their weekend. This might also persuade teachers to pay more attention to failing students so they don’t have to come work on the weekends. Beyond that, parents might even step in and find help for their children because they wouldn’t want to commute the children back and forth on Saturday. This would be especially persuasive if no buses ran on the weekend because parents would have no option but to drive their kids.

The key to any good persuasive essay is to take the points of the other side and deny them. Sooo…you could say something like:

“Some may argue that the cost of the additional day of school would not be worth the gain, but if anything that should be a greater motivation for the program. If the additional day costs more, parents and teachers alike will be persuaded to help their kids in order to bypass the extra costs enitrely. Also, that one extra day may help a lot of students get out of summer school, which is a far greater expense in itself. Students could still enjoy the rewards of the summer while maintaining the extra academic attention that they need throughout the year…”

make points from BOTH sides of the story, and make sure you let the reader know whos side your on.
