Who knows how I can ask my mom to start shaving?

I am 13..turning 14 soon. It is embarassing because everyone in my grade shaves their legs! I hate the feeling and im sure people talk about it behind my backs. I try almost every day to ask, but I always chicken out. How do I ask my mom to start shaving? Please I need help!

Answer #1

I didn’t even ask my mom if I could shave, I just did it. And luckily I managed not to cut myself once, thank god. Then one day after shaving I wore a skirt and my mom noticed. She asked if I shaved, and I said yeah, is that okay? She said sure, ask if you need help and I said ‘kay, Why would she get mad, I mean, it’s your body and I know how you feel because in forth grade EVERYBODY was shaving but me, and it’s embarressing so…I just did it. Good luck!

Just tell her. & if she says no, do it anyway. It’s your body, not hers. Good luck.

Answer #5

You could always do it the old fashioned way - sneak one of her razors, use it, and let her catch you using it. She’ll almost certainly remember doing something similar when she was a girl, and things will progress from there! Have fun!

Answer #6

If you find it hard to tell her and you think she will say no, then just go ahead and shave them without her say so. Once there done she wont be able to do much about it. :)

Answer #7

You could e-mail or txt her?…other then that you just have to ask she shouldn’t say no I started at 11 so she should be okay about it.

Answer #8

You should sit down and tell her that you think you should start shaving your legs. That everyone else in your class is. I’m thirteen and that’s what I did. If that doesn’t work sneak one of her razors, there is not much she can do when all the hair is gone. But most of all, don’t be afraid to ask her. She probably had the same situation when she was your age. I think she will understand.

Answer #9

Well, there are a few ways you can do it. You can email her or text her. Next time you go shopping you can say “Hey mom, can I get a razor?” and let the conversation start that way. Or you can just ask her at home. Be like “mom, can I talk to you?” tell her the truth. You want to start shaving becasue you feel you need to. State your case and see what happens. Chances are its a way bigger deal to you than it is to her.

Answer #10

omg.. the same thing happened to me. Im 14 and I started shaving about three-ish years ago. I know how you feel and its a big self-esteem issue. Just go to your mom and tell her you want to start shaving.. and give her some reasons, like how everyone else shaves and you wanna feel like a woman. She should understand completely. btw, if she forgets or ignores the issue.. keep reminding her or when your both in the store, grab some razors and say “remember mom, I want to start shaving” good luck (:

Answer #11

when you are in a shop just ask if you can look at shavers and ask her that way. thats how I did it.

Answer #12

hmm I assume you want to ask her in person tho, right?

Answer #13

there comes a time in your life when you gotta do your own thing without asking permission, its part of growing up
