Who has heard of Harmonic Resonance?

So there was a suspension bridge that got destroyed by a gentle gust of wind (35-40 mph) a few decades ago. The vibration of the wind passing along the bridge was just right for it to cycle into a harmonic resonance and fall apart. I’ve heard about the military doing research into non-lethal crowd suppression using harmonic resonance. Has anyone else heard of this? And what are your thoughts?

Answer #1

Isnt that when the vibrations in a sound or movement match an objects natural frequency causing the particles in the object to move faster and then to shatter? Or is that something else? O.o

Answer #2

What exactly is harmonic resonance? I hear about it all the time but I dont know exactly what it is.

Answer #3

Yeah I’ve heard about it. As for the government using it to control angry mobs or whatever, I’m all for it as long as it isn’t lethal and can’t cause damage to private and public property.

Answer #4

That’s a great way of describing it!
