Who has a pasta maker recommendation?
I had a relatively cheap pasta roller that completely seized up making last night’s tagliatelle. Frankly, I’m not sorry to see it go, as I was never happy with it, and I’m looking forward to upgrading. If anyone has a pasta maker that they would recommend, I’d love to know about it.
Ah, the kitchen aid pro series. No…it’s not just a pasta maker. The base unit runs a few hundred, attachments galore run you about 20 each…
but this thing ROCKS. We’ve made pasta, bread, cookies, sorbet…it’s awesome. Takes up a bit of counter space, however…seriously, strongly recommended.
I’m a big believer in “one size fits all” kitchen gadgets, b/c too many specialty ones won’t fit in our kitchen.
You’re preaching to the choir, my friend. That mixer is truly sent from the gods. I had one years ago but lost it in the breakup. I really don’t think I could afford to give up any more counter space, though. My work area only measures about three square feet, half of which is already taken up with one of these:

which I think you will agree is an absolute necessity.
The Imperia Pasta Machine SP150. Its about $75 but is the best pasta roller ever made. It’s not electric but the best things are never electric when it comes to pasta makers. Its more of a basic roller but works great.
The V151 IMPERIA Pasta Italiana is also great and can be had for under $100.
I used both when I use to cater.
If you prefer electirc Atlas makes a pretty good Heavy Duty Electirc Pasta Maker. It’s under $200. I prefer the hand crank though.
I was actually just looking at the V151, which seemed perfect. Also perfectly discontinued. Boo. :(
Thanks for the tips.
