Who can help with fractions?

Hey anyone knows how to do fractions..1 2/3 5 6/5…help anyone?..I hate numerators and denominators

Answer #1

You don’t say what you want to “DO” with the fractions, and that makes a difference. I’ll explain a couple things.

A number like 3 6/7 is a “mixed number,” which is a combination of a whole number (3) and a fraction (6/7). It means that you have something between 3 and 4.

Mixed numbers are usually difficult to work with. It is usually easiest to convert the mixed number into what is called an “improper fraction,” which means just a fraction that represents the whole thing. Your denominator will stay the same, in this case 7ths. What you need to figure is how many total 7ths are represented by the mixed number 3 6/7. You know that the fraction part (6/7) contains 6 7ths. So now you need to figure out how many 7ths are represented by the whole number 3. To do this, you just multiply the denominator (7) times the whole number (3), and you get 21. Think about it this way – if you had 3 whole pizzas and cut each one into 7 pieces, how many total pieces would you have? 3x7 = 21, so you would have 21 7ths.

Now you just add together the 21 and the fraction part 6 to get an improper fraction of 27/7. And now it’s generally easier to work with the fraction 21/7.

Answer #2

3 6/7 is a mixed number, you have to take the demoninator (7) and keep it as the denominator, then you do this formula. denominator X Whole number+numerator=improper fraction than you do the same thing for 1 3/4 k?

Answer #3

thats the thing I don’t understand..one and 3/4 and 3 and 6/7..thats my problem

Answer #4
