How can I help my bestfriend called and said they were raped

Okay so my bestfriend just called me and told me she got raped today and she already called the cops and she was crying to me on the phone saying she feel so nasty and dirty and saying she hate all boys I feel so helpless how can I just be there for her and let her no everything thing going be okay…

Your friend is doing all the right things. She called in the police and she is gathering her friends around her for support. Right now that is all you can do. Let her know that what happened is NOT HER FAULT. Typically a rape victim tries to figure out what she did that caused the rape, that it is her fault. Just keep being there for her, and assuring her that it is NOT HER FAULT. If there are other good understanding friends that you both have, encourage her to include them in the support for her. Right now she needs to feel safe, and friends around her will help with that.

Encourage her to get counseling. A lot of counseling. She should be getting a number of leads from the police and Children’s Services people on where to get counseling. There are also many rape counseling centers that she can call like local rape crisis centers - also the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline 1-800-656-HOPE

Just be there for her. And realize that you may not be able to cheer her up immediately and that is okay. She needs to go through the process and that will take time. Try not to be impatient with her.

I had the same thing happen 2 me!! and when that happens all you want is confort and just know that someone is there

im sorry to hear that but you answered your own question just go see her comfort her and all be strong though..its a tough situation to go through honestly but you as her friend try to do everything you can to make her feel better

be there for her support her and make her feel safe and loved and comfort her tell everything is going be ok just be strong and ‘ll get through this together and if you say and do this I bet you went she’s all better and finally over this she will thank you for being there and and putting time up with her
