Where to start in the bible?

Where is a good place for beginners to start reading that bible?

Answer #1

I love the book of Psalms I relate to it… the most

Answer #2

The Book of John for sure. Pray for insight. Enjoy Proverbs next (an easy and wise read) The Bible was never meant to be read cover to cover because it is actually comprised of 66 Books written over a period of about 1,500 years by over 40 authors from all walks of life, with different kinds of personalities, and in all sorts of situations. It was written in three languages on three continents, and it covers hundreds of controversial subjects. Yet, it fits together into one cohesive story with an appropriate beginning, a logical ending, a central character, and a consistent theme. After John and Proverbs I enjoyed reading all the way through from Genesis through Revelation, but it wasn’t until I invested in a good STRONG’S Concordance that magic happened for me. Now I read them side by side. Fascinating! Enjoy yourself Be blessed

Answer #3

John, Galations, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Hebrews, Romans, then start at the beginning. God’s love letters to His people are a great way to start. You are His people! Also, some Bibles have a daily reading guide. Just pick up from day one where you start: as today (6/7/09) would be Luke 1: 21-56. God bless you as you find truth in Him!

Answer #4

Hi,

I recommend you start in the New Testament! It’s best for beginners, in my opinion. Good luck!

Answer #5

I’d say genesis but also read some new testament stuff as you feel… but a lot of new testament is based on an understanding of at least some of the old testament so when they talk of the gr8 men and women of faith, you actually understand why they say that

Answer #6

—you have to start at the bottom and work youre way up. —

THAT would be Genesis. Like it was said, the book is organized the way it is for a reason…

Answer #7

I would start reading psalm first cause to me they are just easier to understand and they come in handy in times of trouble…(I should know)

Answer #8

I also recommend starting at Genesis and working your way through Revelation. It’s organized the way it is for a reason.

Answer #9

How about straight from the beginning in “Genesis”. Read the the completely through over the past year, and it boosted my knowledge tenfold than just reading whatever book I happen to fancy at the time. I read a lot of Revelations, actually…

Answer #10

you will want something that will inspire you read Corinthians. most of my favorite verses are in 1st corinthians, its one of the many great books in the bible.

Answer #11

matthew 6:1:34

Answer #12

the 4 gospels, Matthew Mark Luke and John. there you will find who you are in Christ and who Christ is. then you could go to 1st Corinthians and then go to Psalm. Psalm is made up of devotions and love. someone said about going straight through from beginning to end, I wouldn do that til you get really grounded in it. each book is filled with different events and different lessons. you have to start at the bottom and work youre way up.
