It is prohibited in Az to sell contact lenses without a perscription. Even if you do not need correction. Many Doctors will charge a small fee to do a contact lens fit and give the perscription for them. But any place that sells them like a boutique,swap meets,etc…are taking a big risk in selling them without having the proper licenses to do so. What if a young girl buys them from a boutique in the mall. She is not instructed of the proper use and care of the contacts. She develops a corneal ulcer from over wearing them,or an infection from improper cleaning. After time she notices that her vision is starting to deteriorate from that infection that goes untreated. Loss of vison is not something that can grow back or be fixed. That place that sold them to her is now in big trouble with a huge law suit. And the girl, well her vision will never be the same. There is a reason Contact lenses are regulated by the FDA. They are a foreign object that is put into your body. Thats why an exam is required. You only have one pair of eyes. Take care of them. Do it the right way. See a Dr first. P.S Online contact lens sellers require a perscription anyway. I know I work in an optical and they call the office first to verify before they sell them.
