When you put dish soap on your hair does it strip the colour?

I had dark hair and tried to dye it lighter and it went ginger, im trying to get it light blonde.. Dosee fairy liquid or washing up liquid (dish soap in america) strip the colour or lighten it or what?

Hi, I’m from America so I do call it dish soap. But you call it “fairy liquid”? That is SOOO cute!!! What country are you from? I mean, in what country do they call it fairy liquid? and why? Sorry if this is a wast of your time but I really want to know!! =(

Anyways, about your hair. Well I don’t think dish soap is going to do the trick. You’ll need a toner. A toner is supposed to remove excess yellow/orange pigments in your hair. It’s true that you can find products that are labeled “toner”, but usually it’s just using a blonde ash/cool hair dye. Personally, I would try bleaching it(hair bleach only) and THEN put the toner over it.

P.S. I think the best way to get it lighter and not look gingery and with minimal damage is to just go to a hair stylist.

if you have dark hair NOTHING can make it blonde but bleaching you cant DYE dark hair a lighter colour dye only goes darker light dye cant show up over dark hair and bleaching ruins your hairs health, strength and shine so you should get it done prefesionally nbo detergent or washing soap will take the colour out that much or lighten your hair

wrong thing to use for sure, if you want lighter hair, just use hydrogen peroxide 3%-8% and put it in a spray bottle, spray it in your hair, and sit in the sun for 10 minutes. if you want it dark follow the same steps except put conditioner and coffee in a spary bottle and do the same thing. good luck (:
