When is it too soon to be thinking about this?

My boyfriend and I have been together for over a year. Since about the first month we started dating we spent every night together almost. We started living together in each others parents’ houses, and we basically moved all of our stuff into the house we were staying. Then, in October we moved together about half an hour away from our homes and parents, and he started college in February.

Now he’s looking at going to a new college, because we hate living in the big city where we currently live. But he’s thinking about moving out of the state, and possibly to the complete other side of the US or even a new country. We wouldn’t move for another year, but it’s freaking me out! Is that bad?!

I just want to know that our relationship is ready for that kind of HUGE commitment! And shouldn’t we be at least engaged by the time we move THAT far away from everyone we know?! We’re very young, but we’re still adults who are making a huge decison, right? Wouldn’t you want a commitement first? And what if we’re not ready for that?! Should we be moving away together still?

well we live together now, which I love right now. I was recently thinking about moving back home with my parents, who were very supportive of whatever I decided, but I told him I was leaving and he told me “no”. so I stayed, and things are better. but we still fight more than I’d like about stupid things..

I would say if you have a stable relationship and dont have too many fights that its a good idea. also make sure your parents are okay with it and will always be there for you because if things go pear shaped you want to know that you can always move back in with your parents. maybe hes just taking it step by step. most couples live together then get engaged, not the other way round.
