When is it legal for me to move out of my house?

My parents hardly ever let me leave my house as it is and when they do its almost everytime with a family member and sometimes not even them. They are all the tim yelling at me for something and I dont even do anything. I have a nine year old sister and the only one anyone ask to do anything is me, I feel like they are slaving me around. When my dad gets mad he takes it out on me screaming slaping and a few time has hit me.I’m honestly scared to be home. When he is there. Also they are all the time calling me something.(not nice things) I just want out…but I’m only 16…

If you live in the us you can legally move out at 18 but if your perents are abusing you and you are scared to be in your house you can get human services involved.

Answer #2

it really depends on where you live. here in the US it’s 18.

if the problem is serious you might want to call the cops, though? I’m not saying you have to, but you kind of have to think about your little sister and realize that once you leave they’re going to be worse to her.. it might be a good idea to get her help.

Answer #3

It depends on where you live.

In Canada and the UK, 16 is the legal age to leave home, but most states in the US you have to be 18.

Answer #4
