When is it appropriate to describe a living person as ancient?

I read a posted internet article where the writer described an eighty+ year old actress as “ancient”. The word was used as an ordinary adjective. I thought it inappropriate but I wanted to see if there was an ettiquette rule that applied. We used to be able to rely upon the dictionary to lay clear rules on word usage, but they bend to the popular these days.

Answer #1

I dunno…but it sounds disrespectful and rude to call anyone ancient,

Answer #2

Never, especially not a woman!
