Whats your opinion on the Columbine Massacre?

Whats your opinion on the Columbine Massacre? Do you think it was mental illness that caused this or do you believe it came from bullying? There were so many warning signs why did no one notice? Some people say that the school shooting was caused by taking a anti depressant called Prozac that caused Eric Hariss to constantly think of killing people? It’s true that the side effects of Prozac have not been fully identified because it just was put out on the market in 1999. Whats your opinion of this whole issue was it caused by medication or were these boys sick and twisted?

I think that the whole thing came from the fact that these two guys weren’t getting enough help and attention at home. They were more reserved and prefered not to socialise much with people, probably because of bullying. They probably developed big complexes and wanted to get rid of them, and the only thing they could think of was violence since you see it every day on the TV and video games. While one of the murderes was on prozac, the second one was clean. The ‘’depressed’’ guy had actually bi-polar disorder and prozac only made him hyper-maniac. I have many friends on anti-depressants and seriously they never think about killing other people. I find that if their parents had payed them more attention; if they had gotten some psychological help such as therapy, this whole massacre would not have occured. Think about it, all of the people who went nuts like at the Columbine or Virginia University massacres were bullied, never had a therapy and all had big issues that they didn’t deal with. With more help from their parents and proper medication, this whole thing would never had arrived. It’s not the guns that kill people, it’s people with guns who kill people.

I believe that Eric and Dylan had a mental illness that was caused by being bullied.

I do not believe that either of the two boys had a mental illness. Thats too simple a way to excuse or explain what happened. From all I have read there was a culture at this school that allowed atheletes to get away with anything and everything including bullying others, shoving people, picking on much smaller kids and making crude sexual comments about girls. In all this the teachers did nothing to stop the atheletes from running the school. Kids notice how “some” people get special priviledges and it is this kind of culture that breeds contempt. These two boys saw it and they also experienced it. They were unable to exact revenge upon those who made them feel valueless so they could only take out their frustration on the school as a whole. Hence the plan to kill or injure as many kids as possible. When no one is willing to right a wrong people become frustrated when they realize thst no one cares. The ones who fell short here were the administrative staff ad the teachers who failed to come down hard on the atheletes. It is not just this one school, its a lot of schools. Sports are what counts and those who are in them get special treatment. This is obvious if you read the complete story of Columbine. The real trajedy is that while students were being murdered and maimed the police cowardly stayed outside and listened and did not intervene. Would the US Army “wait” outside a buiklding and allow innocent civilians to be murdered and fail to go inside to neutralize the enemy? They most assuredly would not. The police who showed up (and there were dozens) never saved one life. In fact they caused some to die as a result of incompetence and derelection of duty. What is the purpose of having a police force if they are too scared to risk their own lives in order to save others? What are they doing in the job? Those families who lost a son or daughter or had a son or daughter wounded can blame these two boys but the police are equally if not more to blame for failing to put a stop to the carnage.

I think it was a lil bit of everything maybe there was too much bullying going on with these kids that it developed some kind of mental thoughts of hurting those that caused them pain and suffering, it’s part of human history…to avenge our enemies and the medication probably made the thought a reality, because when I want to do somethng while sober and I’m scared of doing it, well I dont do it but when I’m drunk or something and think about doing it, I do it, with no hesatation maybe the medication help that that be finalized

hahaha dude Virginia Tech happened on my birthday!!! Crazy sh*t huh?

Well I had this program type thing come to my school called “Rachels Challenge” (I think that’s what it was called) well it was about the bullying that happened at columbine and “rachel” was the first girl killed in the shooting and they were giving all types of reason why they think those boys did it but I really do think they had some mental issues that no one ever noticed because if they were being bullied by certain people I think they would have just killed them instead of just the random shooting that they were doin. But that’s just my opinion we will never really know why they did it.
