Whats wrong with my hand?

All day my had has gone alien on me.

As I was typing on my laptop to day, my hand suddenly started twitching and my fingers started to become numb until I rapidly shaked my elbow to let the numbing go away…

Just a while ago, I started playing my guitar and all of a sudden I started to miss the chords and stuff. (something that I have mastered after many years)

I cant play it. The numbing has kinda left but my are is twitching as I play and end up placing the my finger on the wrong position.

Even now as I’m typing this question, my fingers have pressed the wrong keys

Is this bad.?. Because I’m worried. I am a performer and very busy in school.

Sounds like it could possibly be a pinched nerve from holding your arms and hands in the same position while using your laptop. Probably temporary, but if you wake up tomorrow and still happening you should see your Dr and let him know what’s going on. Just a guess. I’m not a dr so I can’t make a definite diagnosis.

Is it your left or right arm thats the problem..?? I think that if the left one goes numb it can be serious…

I’m agreeing with twilight mom. I sometimes get the same type of pain and twitches from being on the computer for to long

mandyloo, thank you for your responds. I just remembered that my own mother and aunts have that and know it may be genetic.

intense also was good for that just the day before, I did get a small sharp pain in my chest.

however, I also see that the pinching nerve could explain the typing and could be the reason for it being temporary but I dont think it explains much the reason why I was fingering the wrong chords.

Actually:

It sounds like you have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I have it - I got it from cake decorating for 3 years, you get Carpal Tunnel from excesive use of your hands and wrist. You said your a performer, I’m guessing you use your hands and wrist every day right? Also typing can give a person Carpan Tunnel because of the position of your wrist in the same way for a long period of time.

Try this and see if it get’s better - Buy a wrist brace and wear it on your wrist that are giving your problems when you sleep at night. Also, wear the brace when you are doing what ever it is that is causing the most strain on your hands and wrist. Wait about a week and see if it get’s any better. I know wearing a wrist brace and night and while I was decorating helped me.

Mine got so bad at one point, I could not life my hand without it going numb. If it’s too bad, you may need to speak to a doctor about it because some cases of Carpal Tunnel do require surgery. Try the wrist brace first though.
