Why do I have irregular periods if I don't have sex?

I’m not sexually active or anything, but I havent had my period since last march! I am always getting acne, cramps, and headaches, but it never comes! Like I said, I am not sexually active, so i couldnt possibly be preagnent. I’ve asked my mom to take me to the Doctors, but all she tells me is that its perfectly normal for girls to have irreguluar periods when they first start, but I’ve had mine for 3 years! What should I do?

You need to see the Doctor…I wish you the best !!

Your mother is right. It takes 4-5 years for a period to regulate. Heck, mine is only starting to because I’ve had it for around 4 years now. It can also because you are sport-active, when you run alot and are physically in shape you miss or it becomes very light. Or when you are under alot of stress and your body is going through rapid changes, (growing, being tired, etc.) you can miss. Welcome to puberty sweetheart, your body is going through a wild ride. So listen to your mom. It’s totally fine.

You definately need to see your doctor. In the UK, if you are over 14 you can go see your doctor without a parent present. I’m not sure of your age or where you come from but best go get checked out. Sex and irregular periods do not run hand in hand. If you have unprotected sex and miss a period then you need a test but as you are not sexually active you should be ok. The only proper diagnosis you can get is from a doctor. Good Luck
