whats with people and marriage?

so this girl I used to know from childhood called me today, after not hearing ANYTHING from her for at least 6 months. I know we are both busy with school and what not but still..she didnt make any effort to stay in touch so I didnt bother to take second tries. anyways..this girl is 18 and is pretty religious (her parents kinda manipulated her to be that way). I on the other hand am really liberal and kinda into the whole idea of challenging my religion( though I have not converted and wont). so her parents wont let her finish her bachelors without getting married. I despise that idea but what can I do? she has this mentality that once she gets married her problems will be solved but I think it will just shatter her potential (shes a great writer). is there anything I can do? her parents have known me since my diaper days too but they also want me to get married ASAP. I dont want to..so my question is..how do I control this situation?I dont want my family involved or any drama but they need to back off…
