If it’s your first attempt, I’d stay to a 4/4 time, so you don’t get confused. A lot of songs today use the same chords, just in different ways. The most common chords in a pop song for example are the first, fourth and fifth in a scale. So if you wanted to write a song in Cmaj, you’d use Cmaj, Fmaj and Gmaj. xx

try singing to yourself in your head write down what you come up with. sit down and figure out the notes (w/piano is best)worked well for me
