What's your opinion on name tags at work?

First or last name only, with an option to choose the name used. I have an employee named Rachel, her name tag says Charlie

right and they always say my name wrong very few say it right and i have to take the time to correct them or i get annoyed and ignore it. I have had a lady be really rude and mad at me she goes what your name then looked at my name tag and is like KRISTEN. I’m like yea we’ll go with that haha

i wish i could use a differnt name oh TIna was really rude today and my boss would be like who’s Tina hahah

omg like 3 weeks ago some weired guy he looked kind of sick came to our table to take our order (he looked like philp from survivor teehee) and i thought nuthin of it i asked for my soup (mushroom) and when he came i saw him come out of the kitchen AND HE SNEZZED IN MY SOUP!!!!!!!!`>:( ROAAAAAARRRRRRRRRR! so he put the soup on the table and the i said ‘im not eating that ‘ he got mad and put his hands on the table and the soup spilt alittle bit then his stupid name tag fell in it i took 2 bread stiks and left so ya i hate them and oh ya i didnt go back there and i told the manager so ya i dont like them anymore

well in my opinion i think its a great way for ur boss to know who is serving what table my mom works at mcdonalds and they have to wear nametags so that mrs.markson will know what person is serving what table i think its a great idea

i work at a slow fast food restaurant with many regulars. and honestly if you want to know my name i will be more than happy to share it instead of those creeper guys who look at you name tag that is conveniently on the females breast.

point less since customers usually dont call u by your name anyway

i hate them. why do customers need to know my name? they always refer to me as “hey man”

If you have a customer service kind of job, a name tag is part of the uniform as customers wants to know who they are speaking too etc. I don’t see the issue with having your christian name (your first name) on the tag. If you are working in a bank, airport etc or something that required professionalism and trustworthiness, your full name, christian and surname should be on the name tag…..Side stepping your question a bit, I personal think name tags are great, especially if you fancy the person, you got a name to put to the face. :-)

Oh, a person’s first name, for example Samantha or Kirsten is our christian name (it is the properly terminology) and our last name is our surname.

oh well i guess you learn something new every day =) because i honestly just thought you were spelling my name the way read it in your head and for that i apologize lol

I used to think it was for the boss to know your name so they don’t feel embarrassed that you work for them and they struggle with your name :)
