Whats "Goth" Music, Exactly??

There’s a few different kinds of “goth” music genres… gothic rock and gothic metal to name a couple. And for the people saying it’s just screamo… no it isn’t, screamo and goth are 2 different genres. Screamo is just that - screamo. I like both genres though…

Some examples of gothic rock:

Siouxsie and the Banshees. Bauhaus. Some Cure. Virgin Prunes. Killing Joke. Sisters of Mercy. Alien Sex Fiend. Miranda Sex Garden.

I think Lacuna Coil counts as gothic metal?

O_o there are 2 types of goth music goth metal and goth rock…goth rock is like punk…never listened to goth rock before (I hate anything punk) notable bands I know of but never listened to: Bauhaus Siouxsie & the Banshees Dead Can Dance

goth metal was derived from early doom metal, my dying bride,paradise lost & anathema being the beginning, its sound is normally dark and most bands use female and male vocals, it surfaced around the beginning of the 90’s the lyrics play a huge part in goth metal so does the dark guitar riffs and drum beats… though some elements are derived from goth rock most of it is still considered doom (since like 90% of the genre is derived from it) notable bands are : Celtic frost anathema paradise lost draconian

Well,its a pretty old and great music genre.It was never really popular to other people besides Goths.Until Marilyn Manson steped in with death metal/Goth rock/goth music.The music is known for its doomed moody lyrics,different eerie sound,very hard,usually thought of as deppresing and sinister to young doomed minds.Well I couldnt put it any better! I like emo so I tried my best to describe Goth.:)
