Whatis Adobe Air?

I downloaded Adobe Reader 9 last night. I ended up with Adobe Air too! Does anyone know what that is? If I remove it will it affect Adobe Reader 9 in any way? I’m new to the world of computers. I have so much to learn. I hope that someone can help me out. Thanks! :)

According to the Adobe Website:

“The Adobe® AIR™ runtime lets developers use proven web technologies to build rich Internet applications that run outside the browser on multiple operating systems.”

I guess that means developers can create stand alone programs using a similar script language to Adobe Flash language.

You probably can remove it, but there may be programs coming out soon that require this. If you do decided to remove it, chances are it will automatically reinstall if its ever needed, so do whatever you want really :)

I reformated my hubby’s computer on Saturday, and when I downloaded Adobe Reader, I went into Add/Remove programs, to make sure it had installed, and saw “Adobe Air”, also…

I don’t know what it is…but will be watching this quesiton to see if somebody else knows the answer…I’m as bewildered as you…and I’m not new to computers.
