What would you suggest for a good saxaphone mouthpiece?

I am looking into buying a new mouthpiece for alto and tenor sax. I am looking for a mouthpiece preferably metal. im looking for a bright, edgy sound for both. something that would be good for rock, jazz, and fusion. something with decent control. any suggestions?

it depends how much you wanna spend.if you want something cheapER then I would go with a meyer5(not 100%on spelling, but thats for alto.im not sure what # it is for tenor even tho I play tenor not alto :D) because they are really amazing for jazz, rock, and that stuff. if you really want to spend the money I would get a metal mouthpiece.the ones you want are going to be $300 and up.but its something that you would have for a long time.Selmer and Vandourn make some really nice metal ones.before you buy a meyer or metal, if you can go to a music store and try a few out.even try a few of the same kind out because every mouth piece has a different feel and sound even tho its the same brand and make.make sure you bring electical tape with you.if the store wont let try them out say o well I have tape.then they cant tell you no.you would put this on the top where your teeth hit.if they wont even let you do that go to another store.if you are going to order it online, make sure you can return it and order more than 1 mouthpiece of the same brand. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions ask me. :)

dont listen to this fool

check out SR Technologies. I have a Fusion for my 1949 Beuscher Top Hat and Cane and it rocks. They also have a couple of alto. My favorite is the Legend 8 which is actually clear instead of metal but has the same sound.

Don’t worry im a kid just like you (Sophmore in highschool)

Answer #4

I would go with a vandoren or selmer.I know vandoren tend to be a little bit more than selmer but they are really amazing.I dont own a metal mouthpiec but I’ve played a few in the store when I was buying my sax.I cant really tell you go buy a vandoren t95 because you may hate it.so go try some out figure out which brand you like.

Answer #6

yes I already own a meyer 5*. I am looking for a more fit mouthpiece for my playing. I am very interested in getting a metal one, and I was hoping that you could possible suggest a few different brands for me to look into. thanks! :)
