What would be a good 2 year job/course for me?
Im 16 years old, turning 17 this year, and im a girl. I am leaving school now for complicated reasons, and am planning to join the police force when im about 18 or 19ish. I would appreciate some suggestions of courses I could go on or jobs you think I could do, just as a way of filling time before the police.
I was thinking about hairdressing or early childhood care.
any suggestions/ opinions would we appreciated. thankyou.
You need to look up the requirements for joining the police force. You will not be able to join the force without finishing high school or having a GED. They require basic high school education.
It’s also recommended (not required, just highly suggested) that you have either an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. Useful courses that can be applicable when you’re a police officer are of course criminal justice, human behavior, and computers. The chances of you actually being able to join the force when 18-19 is unlikely, especially since you have to apply and pass multiple examinations and meet the age requirement- 20-21 depending on which state you live in. At which point, if you are accepted, you’ll be sent to a police academy that can last for anywhere from 3 months to a year.
You should first consider joining some branch of the military. That kind of experience looks VERY good on your application to the police force and it prepares you for the physical and mental aspects of being a police officer.
I live in new zealand, so to join the police here, I only need year 11 and to pass all the physical tests. and I have to be 17. as well as a course, I will take mathematics tuition and english tuition just to become well informed on the academic side. im also doing combat sports and extra swimming lessons.
but thanks for answering my question.
