What should I do about my sister's suicidal friend?

Well, a few days ago my little sister (who’s really little-we’re talking elemetery school here) told me I had to swear not to tell anyone something. Of course, being the curious person I am, I agreed. She then proceeded to tell me that one of her best friend tried to commit suicide twice (in the same day, if that makes a difference). First, she tried to cut herself with her dad’s knife, and then she took a rope out in her backyard woods and was going to hang herself, but she chickened out. My sister told me that her friend was going to do it because her dad was yelling at her and her sister (who is my best friend) was ‘verbally abusing’ her (calling her ‘mean names’.). Though my sister told me not to tell anyone, I am because I am older and wiser than her. But I need help-what should I do? should I tell my friend about it? I don’t know-I honestly need help and fast, because she could try to do it again.

But don’t make any false assumptions-they go to a private, catholic school, so it’s not like this thing happens every day. But please help me!

Yes. My friend works at the psych ward in a children’s hospital. They have kids as young as 7 in there who’ve attempted to kill themselves. The age does not matter. It has to be taken seriously. Tell her parents.

tell your friend or an adult that can help her out. Meaby your sisters friends did chicken out this time but next time she wont and you can prevent that. She needs help and also if her dad is making her do that then she should get out. Sometimes is hard to get out of something like that. But sience she is yung she can have people help her out. Please tell somebody.

GOOD LUCK:)

I WOULD tell your friend… maybe even their parents. If things are really that bad, maybe some family counselling or indivdual therapy for the little one is definitely needed. And don’t feel bad if you do. You’ll be doing the right thing.
